- I'll make it quick. The law says that if you sample anything at all
- >from a commercially available recording or from a recorded
- performance of any artist that you have to get clearance from the
- owners of the copyrighted work or risk a lawsuit. There is no
- ceiling on damages since you may be potentially destroying the
- public's perception of a work of art. So, in short, if you are
- planning on using music, either get it cleared through the Harry Fox
- Agency in NYC or use original music. There is no such thing as a
- free ride as far as commercial music is concerned. Period.
